KTI Cold Air Plants for Aggregate Cooling (CCAP)

KTI cold air plants are specially designed to cool large quantities such as gravel and other aggregates efficiently, quickly and economically during concrete production.

Thanks to the highly efficient technology of the cold air system, no or less ice is needed for cooling. Customers thus save electricity and water. Due to wear-resistant materials, these systems work reliably even under the most demanding conditions. A special air scrubber cleans the air before this is cooled down, thus permanently protecting the plant.

Plant information

KTI cold air systems have been developed to Efficiency of existing systems for concrete cooling can be significantly increased. While concrete cooling with cullet or plate ice reaches its limits when the cement-water ratio is reached, cold air can be used to lower the concrete temperature even further.
  • The prevention or reduction of ice through the use of cold air saves costs for electricity and water, as the technology implemented in a cold air system enables more efficient operation.
  • In addition, the cold air system must Be in operation only during concrete production, while an ice plant is usually in continuous operation for 24 hours to fill the ice store even during the downtimes of the concrete batching plant.
  • Cold air systems from KTI are a sensible economic upgrade of existing concrete cooling systems instead of expansion with an ice plant or a chilled water plant.
  • The use of cold air to lower the temperature of the aggregates before they are fed into the concrete mixer is the most energy-efficient way to cool concrete economically. This can improve overall efficiency by up to 30%.

Your advantages of KTI cold air systems

  1. By incorporating a cold air system, the Overall system efficiency can be improved by up to 30 %.
  2. Is used in the for years proven KTI design Supplied in 40-foot or 20-foot container (stacked).
  3. Customer saves moneybecause cold air plant is in operation only during concrete production in contrast to ice plant.
  4. KTI Cold air systems are economically viable because customer needs less ice and thus saves electricity and water.
  5. KTI Cold air systems can reduce the concrete temperature reduce even further as shard or slab ice cream.

KTI - Insight

Our cold air plants are used by our customers worldwide and are a robust and efficient solution to achieve the right concrete temperature at high ambient temperatures. Due to the high mass percentage of aggregates in the concrete, their cooling has a very high effect. This is what makes the system so effective.
Combined with our air nozzles, all types of silos can be cooled. The plants are currently used in the production of ready-mixed concrete parts, ready-mixed concrete and in mass concrete, which shows the wide range of applications.

Silo cooling via cold air for the production of precast elements. Due to high quality requirements, the temperature of the gravel in summer must not exceed a certain value.

Air scrubber of a cold air system. This keeps the heat exchangers clean so that the system always runs efficiently and reduces the maintenance effort.

Four cold air systems for silo cooling on large construction site in India. In the case of mass concrete, the large aggregates in particular must be cooled to prevent the heat from being carried into the concrete.

An open row silo is cooled by cold air.

Over 12 MW of cooling capacity is installed at a plant for mass concrete production. A total of 21,000 m³ of concrete was processed per day - a world record!
